Village was full of traditional
dancing last night (Thursday). I had heard them
practicing for the previous two nights and when I asked what the significance was, I
was told “it’s for tradition.” Upon further investigation, I learned that only the youth dance on such occasions as
this is so they can learn tradition.
The scene was full of drumming, dancing, and chatting, but that does not really do justice to it all. Neither do these pictures, but I thought I would share a
few all the same. (And yes, my worst
fear did come true when the extremely large circle open and a young boy pointed
to me inviting me into the circle. I kindly declined stating I did not want to take away from the
youths as I am no longer a "youth" myself--- and thinking in my head “nor am I foolish enough to make a complete
idiot of myself in front of the entire village, payam, and payam administration…
but thank you all the same). Enjoy. (PS- I haven't quite figured out how the placement of these pics works just yet, so bare with me as I try to get the hang of the blog again.)
